HaPe Giveaway

This giveaway has ended. Thanks to all that entered!
So my Holiday Giveaways are coming to an end. But don’t worry, the giveaways don’t end here! I was lucky enough to get to review a HaPe E-Racer Bamboo car and it’s been a huge hit.
HaPe has created a Bamboo Collection of toys including Games, E-Racers, and Bamboo Creative Play all made with natural bamboo. HaPe even created a Bamboo Sunshine Dollhouse!!It took years for HaPe to figure out how to properly cut, saw, file, and dye the bamboo since it is a sensitive material. But they were able to figure it out and created wonderful bamboo toys and games! Right now they carry over 14 different games from the Bamboo Collection.

Ella is a girly girl at heart, but she does love cars, trucks, airplanes and dinosaurs. When she saw the bamboo E-Racer she flipped out. I got rid of all of her old plastic cars, so she’s been carless for a while. When I gave her the E-Racer she immediately used her blocks to build a road for her car to drive down and had a blast. She loved pushing the car by the silver roof (handles?). It glides easily and would be a blast for any child who likes cars.

I personally love that you can tell the car body is actual bamboo. It’s really unique! The car is made with raw materials and the paint is water based. Safety is always HaPe’s top concern, so you know your child is playing with non-toxic, quality toys. You can buy the E-Racer from HaPe for only $19.95!

The Giveaway: HaPe would like to give 1 lucky winner a E-Racer!Rules: You have until 11:59 p.m. EST December 19, 2009 to enter. Skin Free Giveaway

This giveaway has ended. Thanks to all that entered!!

I’m always up for trying new things (as long as they are natural and safe) especially if they claim they will take care of problems that I have. For years I’ve been plagued by eczema on my arms and legs. After I had Ella, the bumps spread and it got worse. 3 years ago I spoke to my doctor about my concern and they prescribed me a lotion. It didn’t work. Since then Ive tried numerous products and nothing has fully worked. So when Skin Free asked me to do a review, I was more than willing to see their results. And guess what??No more bumps! Well, I have a few that are almost gone, but I’ve only been using the product a month. 🙂

Skin Free is a fabulous company who creates amazing natural skin products that help with eczema, psoriasis, dry skin, skin allergies, dermatitis, and more! All of the Skin Free products come back with a 0-1 rating on the Cosmetic Data Base! For those of you unfamiliar with the Cosmetic Data Base, they test the chemicals in products and rate them on a hazard level. 0-1 is the best a company can get. Each Skin Free product is formulated using natural oils and butters with specific moieties that actually work. There are no fragrances, colorants, petroleum, or harmful chemicals in Skin Free products. Not only are they fantastic products, they are totally affordable!!

I was sent a few items from Skin Free, but I’ll start off with the basics. The Extra Moisturizing Soap & Shampoo Bar, which was awarded the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance, is the basis of the eczema treatment. It has a creamy rich lather which naturally moisturizes your skin. Skin Free’s Soap is not a detergent, unlike a lot of soaps on the market. Instead, they “superfat” their soap with extra virgin olive oil which contains natural anti-inflammatory agents, anti-oxidants, and vitamins that nourish your skin and aid in healing. Since the soap is free of harsh chemicals, it is safe for everyone. Ella was cursed with the same bumps, but she is now bump free as well! You can get the Extra Moisturizing Soap & Shampoo Bar for only $3.99!

After you get out of the shower, you can use Skin Free’s After Shower Moisture Spritz. You put the oil on the second you get out for maximum hydration and then towel dry so the oil soaks deep into your skin. I do this while I’m still in the shower so I can wash my hands off before getting my towel. The oil leaves your skin feeling silky smooth with no greasy residue. I haven’t had any itching or dry skin after I use the Spritz! Even if you don’t suffer from eczema, skin allergies, psoriasis, dermatitis, or other skin problems, the Spritz will keep your skin hydrated in the harsh winter weather! It also helps with cracked heels! You can purchase the After Shower Moisture Spritz for only $11.99!

I love using the Whipped Tamanu Body Butter before bed. Tamanu oil was discovered by the Polynesians centuries ago. It has protective, anti-inflammatory, and healing properties that also promotes skin growth. Tamanu is also antibacterial. Skin Free has combined Tamanu oil with extra virgin olive oil, sweet almond oil, Shea butter, cocoa oil, soy oil, geranium oil, and vitamin E to help sun-damaged skin, eczema, psoriasis, and scarring. Unlike most lotions, you don’t get a greasy feeling after you put it on. It’s goes on thick and leaves your skin feeling great afterward! You can purchase the Whipped Tamanu Body Butter at Skin Free for only $18.99!

You can also purchase the Eczema Kit, which includes 4 Extra Moisturizing Soaps and 1 After Shower Spritz for $25! I am more than thrilled with my results with using Skin Free!

The Giveaway: Skin Free would like to offer 1 lucky winner a $30 Gift Card to their site!

The Acorn Store

If you haven’t finished shopping for little ones, you must go check out this site- The Acorn Store!! They are a family run and operated Eco-friendly toy store and carry just about every Plan Toy you can imagine- with lower prices!

As you all know, I LOVE Plan Toys! They only use replenishable rubberwood, which is preservative free and naturally processed. The wood is not chemically treated in any way. Plan Toys only uses water-based colors and non-toxic glues. Plan Toys manufactures all of their own toys in Thailand, so they have complete control of the process. Thailand is rich with rubberwood, which Plan Toys has successfully recycled for their toys.

Here are some of my favorite finds from The Acorn Store!
The Acorn Store just opened on the internet, but they have an adorable shop in Santa Monica, CA. Eventually, they will be selling more than just Plan Toys on their site. But Plan Toys is their favorite so they thought they’d start there. Here is a quick video about the store:http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docid=-971802125329973303&hl=en&fs=true

Isn’t it magical? I so wish we had one in Charlotte!! The Acorn Store in CA carries thousands of Eco-friendly toys and was picked 3 times as the best toy store in LA. If you live in the area, catch them on Fox tomorrow! If you don’t live in the area, you can still shop on their internet site- The Acorn Store and stock up on some awesome Plan Toys!!

Sprig Toys Giveaway

This giveaway has ended. Thanks to all that entered!!
When I was at Toys R US last month I browsed their small Eco-friendly section. I was shocked when I saw Sprig Toys. I had seen them on the internet, but never had the chance to see what they were all about. As I looked them over at Toys R Us, I was pretty impressed by the quality. Then a few weeks later Sprig contacted me about a review and I was stoked. I love trying new things!

Sprig Toys is an Eco-friendly company dedicated to making the best toys the right way. Three of the Sprig designers were once creating toys that were selling “like hotcakes.” They were happy and successful until one day they visited the factories that turned their computer renderings into the real thing. They realized the harmful impact their toy production had on nearby air, soil, water, plants and people. They then weren’t so happy. The 3 toy makers then made a pact to only create battery-free, eco-friendly, paint-free, kid-powered toys. And now we have Sprig Toys to enjoy!

Sprig Toys are molded using Sprigwood- a durable, bio-composite made from recycled wood and reclaimed plastic. In the compound, there are no heavy metals, BPA, phthalates, urea or formaldehyde. Though, I just learned that all wood has a natural level of formaldehyde as part of its makeup due to it being in the air, soil and water- and even in outer space! But Sprig Toys does not add any additives to their compound that is considered hazardous on any list.

Sprig Toys sent us 2 amazing products to review. Ella’s favorite is the Princess Penny’s Story Building Palace. The set comes with 95 pieces that you can build your own castle with. I love that the pieces are cardboard that you get to piece together using mini blocks with slits for the boards to fit. And it comes with a Princess Penny who is adorable! I love the simple design. Ella had a blast putting the castle together. I wasn’t sure she would be able to do it herself, but once I showed her how.. she was right at it. She loved the horse and carriage! This set has kept her busy for hours! I took it over to the old townhouse so Ella could play while I worked. 🙂You can get the Princess Penny’s Story Building Palace for $29.99 at Sprig Toys.

The other awesome toy we received is the Adventure Series Dolphin Explorer Boat. Ella has loved playing with the boat in the bath tub! It comes with 2 dolphins, 2 boats, 1 life preserver, and Captain Owen- with a backpack and hat. I love the mommy and baby dolphins! Ella has the jump in and out of the water which is adorable to watch. This would be a great toy to take to the pool or beach and even with outside water tables. You can get the Dolphin Explorer at Sprig Toys for $29.99.

So I’m going to be talking about Shaklee several times this month. They carry some amazing Eco-friendly products that are worthy of multiple reviews and giveaways! We took over our new kit to clean the townhouse and it has done wonders!!My brain hasn’t fully been functioning with all that’s going on. But here is what I did take:This was after scrubbing for 2 1/2 hours with the Scour Off Heavy Duty Paste and H2 Organic Super Cleaning Concentrate. You can see the difference on the left side. Another 1 1/2 hours was put into cleaning the tub with the cleaner. I wish I had a before we started picture because it was almost black. But it’s close to being white now!
I’m not sure if you can tell by the picture but there is grease everywhere on the stove, walls, backboard, oven and even the hood. I used the Basic H2 Organic Super Cleaning Wipes and it took off all of the grease making it look brand new. I also used the Basic H2 Organic Super Cleaning Concentrate on the hood filters and it took off the caked on grease!

I used the Basic H2 Organic Wipes to clean baseboards, surfaces, the washer and dryer, walls, the fridge, dust built up on doors and more. I was highly satisfied with the way they cleaned and took the dirt and grime off.

ZeroWater Review

Around 3 months ago we ditched the water bottles. This was a hard choice to make since they were so convenient and easy to take on the go. Even though we recycled the bottles, I wanted to cut down on our waste. Plus filling a reusable bottle is just as easy. Last month I was introduced to ZeroWater and I’m really happy with the product!ZeroWater sells amazing filtered water products that have 000 TDS- Total Dissolved Solids. They even come with a TDS meter that allows you to test your tap water and test your Zero Water to make sure it reads 000 ppm. When I tested our tap water I was pretty happy that it only contained 043 ppm and our filtered water on our fridge came back 040. Across the country readings have varied from 25 to 700 ppm on tap water. Even some bottled water has come back with readings of 300 ppm. I wish I had a bottled water around to test! When I tested the water in our ZeroWater Pitcher, my results came back 000!

As of September 2008, the Water Quality Association and NSF International have tested and certified the ZeroWater Pitchers and Filters for reducing Lead, Chromium, Mercury, Hydrogen sulfide, Chlorine, Iron, Zinc, and Aluminum. You can really taste the difference! Even with my low levels of tap water. At first I made the mistake of not taking off the sticker to my filter. Ooops! I tasted something weird and looked online and saw you were supposed to take off the sticker. Since then, the water is amazing and I feel totally confident in letting my family drink from the pitcher. It’s easy to store in your fridge and pour into a to go cup. The good news is that the lower level TDS reading you have on your water, the longer your filter will work. So you could get 6 months of usage from it! The plastic pitcher is BPA free and made with ABS and AS plastics that do not leach into the water.

What makes the ZeroWater Filter so much better than other water purifiers is that your water goes through a 5 step filtration process when many others only go through 2-3 stages. The first stage is a activated carbon infused micron cloth. Stage 2 is a multilayer system using activated carbon and oxidation reduction alloy. Stage 3 is a distributor that maximizes contact time. Stage 4 is a comprehensive ION EXCHANGE array. And stage 5 is a non-woven membrane to remove fine particles. That’s how you get a TDS reading of 000!

You can get the ZeroWater Pitcher, Filter and TDS meter for only $35! Plus you can sign up for coupons below!

Swaddle Babies

You might remember my review and giveaway of Swaddle Babies a few months ago. If you weren’t with me, check it out. 🙂
Since Priscilla custom made Ella- yes, the doll is Ella 2, my Ella has slept with her every night. Before bed, she asks for
“her beautiful pink Ella baby.” It’s too cute!! Ella never cuddled with a doll/stuffed animal before her Swaddle Baby. She did sleep with her stuffed animals at the end of her bed, but none were deemed worthy enough to sleep next to her. I never thought in a million years she’d love this doll as much as she does. I’ve been really happy that after 4 months, her Swaddle Baby is still bed worthy.

Now, Swaddle Babies has added a new fabric to their blankets- organic fleece!

I love how vibrant the new fabrics are!! I’m going to have to order another one to add to Ella’s collection. Priscilla has cut her prices until Dec. 11 and has a holiday deadline for Dec. 15 if you want to order a custom made doll before Christmas.

Each Swaddle Baby is custom designed and personalized with a name embroidered on the tag. Swaddle Babies are snuggled in your choice of organic cotton fleece, cotton velour or Minky fabrics. Each one is crafted with organic cotton knit, organic eco-wool, organic thread, and a variety of natural and organic handspun yarns. They are so sweet looking and great for any aged child.

If you sign up for the Swaddle Baby newsletter you can get special deals and discounts! Happy shopping!!

My Precious Kid Giveaway

This giveaway has ended. Thanks to all that entered!!

Obviously child safety is important to me. I wasn’t one of those neurotic parents who worried about everything when Ella was born. I became that person once she became mobile and got into everything. Last year, around this time, we were at the mall and Ella ran and got lost in the crowd. This was only for a total of 30 seconds, but in that 30 seconds my heart stopped. I felt like such a bad parent for letting her out of my sight. I rushed out and bought a backpack bear “leash” to make sure that it didn’t happen again. I know you can’t keep your child on a leash forever, so I came up with a backup plan. I now feel safe having my Child Safety ID Pack from My Precious Kid and if you don’t have one… you need to keep reading!

My Precious Kid sells child safety products and baby gear. They carry feeding accessories, baby products, child ID kits, home and child safety items, personalized products, potty training, and safety education media. Kay Green started the company with her Child ID products filling a need for homeschooled and adopted children. My Precious Kid began in 2001 with just one product. Now they carry over 150!

My Precious Kid
sent us their Child Safety Pack and it is a must have for any aged child. The kit comes with 1 – Child ID Card, 1 – Child Car Seat ID Card, 1 – Medical Release Card, 1 – Child Luggage Tag ID Card, 2 – Shoe ID Stickers, 1 – Disposable Child ID bracelet , and 1 – Child DNA Fingerprint Kit.The cards have a self seal pouch that protects the photo and medical release signature. I love the car seat ID card. I never thought about that before. Ella sometimes rides with her friends and if they were in an accident, they wouldn’t know who Ella was. So having the ID card, with a medical release signature, makes me feel more at ease when she’s riding with someone else. Also, if we were to get in an accident and I was unconscious, the medical team will be able to know her info and who to call.

The DNA kit is something I hope to never use, but I think it’s a great idea. You just swab the inside of your child’s mouth and place in the pouch, which is then stored in the freezer. The DNA kit also comes with a finger print kit. So if something were to happen to your child, you’ll have everything you need to give to authorities to speed up the process of finding your child.

I was also sent The Child Safety Guide for New and Expecting Parents and it’s a great resource guide to help protect your baby. The books tells new parents what to look for in car seats, crib safety, infant products, hazards and more! It is a must have for every new or expecting parent. I wish I had this before Ella was born. I never thought about some of the things in the book. This would be a great baby shower or welcoming home gift!

My Precious Kid
has tons of information on their site and blog. They even have a free Vial of Life Program that allows you to print out forms, labels and instructions in case of an emergency. The Vial of Life Program is recognized by paramedics and ambulances nationally. For each family member, you prepare a medical form that tells about your medical history, medications, and allergies. It also has emergency contact numbers. Then the form is folded and placed into an empty pill bottle. The a VIAL of LIFE symbol is placed on the outside of the bottle, on the outside of the refrigerator and on your front window pane. The vial is place inside your refrigerator under the top shelf. In the case of an emergency in your home the paramedics are trained to look for the Vial of LIFE symbol on refrigerators. They then have access to your medical history, medications and allergies. They also have a list of emergency numbers to call. You can also place the same form in your glove box and place the sticker on the outside to protect your family in the car too.
