Whew… I’m so glad this weekend is over it’s not even funny! Planning, prepping and putting together a 3 year old Eco-friendly birthday bash has been very time consuming! Granted, it was well worth it… or so I’ve been told. I felt like I was at the party for 5 minutes it went by so quickly. But, over the next week you will get to see what made her party so special- plus get the chance to win some awesome party gear!
Yesterday was Ella’s 3rd birthday party. Though, her real b-day is on Tuesday. The party was a “Eco kitchen” theme and everyone got to decorate their own organic cupcakes, cookies and ice cream sundaes. Since I am a pain in the butt mom (so I’ve been told) who insists that any present given to my child must meet my Eco-friendly standards (but really, is that too much to ask?) I had to make sure Ella’s party was 100% Eco-friendly.
Luckily, I found Green Party Goods. They are an amazing Eco-friendly party store that has pretty much everything you need to throw a great party! They carry fun stuff for cupcakes, things you need for the table, goodie boxes and bags, party favors, decorations, toys and games, and of course gifts! If you think about it, when you have a party you normally purchase disposable plates, cups, utensils, and themed gear. All of that junk ends up in a landfill where they do not degrade. Not to mention all of the bad stuff that was used to create them.
As I walked down our grocery store’s party isle, I was taken back by all of the plastic, Styrofoam and bleached paper plates. If there’s a better alternative for the same price, why not go for it? That’s the great thing about Green Party Goods! They cost the same as any other party store, but they carry safe products! I’m all for saving the planet, but selfishly I care more about my daughter’s health and safety. Even if the party goods were an extra buck or two- it would be worth my child’s life!
Green Party Goods was more than generous in sending lots of review items. I can’t thank them enough for providing such amazing products that I could share with my family and friends! My all time favorite product they sent is their new reusable Eco Square Cupcake Stand.
This stand is AWESOME!! It can fit 125 cupcakes! It took me a while to figure out how I would use the extra space since there were only 16 people attending the party. I decided to make some extra goodies just for the stand. If I hadn’t been running short on time, there are other things I would have done. But guests were arriving as the stand was being set up. Fortunately, we usually throw cupcake parties, so I love that I can keep using the stand. It is made with recycled corrugated cardboard and can be easily wiped off. Even honey came off with no problems plus without leaving a mark. It was very easy to put together and to take apart. I can’t wait to find more ways to decorate it! My big 3-0 is coming up in 3 months… so I have some time to think of some new ideas. I’m thinking gerber daisies and some streamers…
Green Party Goods also sent us Bamboo Utensils, Compostable Cornware cups, Mohawk Eco-friendly plates and napkins, Mohawk Cups, Paper Tablecloth, Beeswax Candles,
Biodegradable Streamers, and a awesome Felt Party Hat. Which Ella was thrilled about! She loves a party hat.
I couldn’t have been more happy with Green Party Goods supplies. They were stylish, fun, safe, and durable. I loved the bamboo utensils and think they are much better than any plastic knife I’ve ever used. The knife wasn’t sharp to the touch but could cut through an apple! I also loved that the beeswax candles didn’t drip as fast as regular wax candles and didn’t end up in Ella’s cake. (BTW- totally forgot to take pics of that. But will on Tuesday when she has her real b-day cake!) The paper tablecloth feels like cloth and doesn’t tear like the normal paper tablecloths. I’m even thinking about keep it on my craft table! And the best part was rounding up all of the cornware cups to compost!

I would probably spend the $50 on a few different things. I really liked the Retro toys, such as the knitting dolls. I could also use a festive banner and perhaps some party plates and cups. tmp95 at comcast dot net

Sounds great! Congrast on her birthday. My own daughter had her 3rd bday party yesterday, and turns 3 this week as well.
We asked everyone not to bring presents but rather donations to the local food bank, and collected a huge pile of food that she's going to bring over herself this week. It was wonderful to remove the commercial aspect from the party and just focus it on sharing time between friends.

Why should I throw a green party? Because it helps the environment, myself, and the people that attend. It's improving all facets of life at a time.

I learned that Latex is not a plastic. It’s organic, made from the sap of rubber trees collected through an absolutely harmless tapping process very simple to that used for collecting the maple sap used for making syrup.
That's amazing…I had always made the mistake of assuming that balloons were in the “plastic” category. Good to know that latex balloons are biodegradable.

I think birthday parties are extremely wasteful in the first place. I really dislike spending so much money on hats, party-ware and tablecloths that all end up in the trash. Last year my kids chewed on the streamers and I couldn't get the dye off their faces. Just reading your post about the non-drippy candles and tablecloth that can actually be reused is enough of a reason to have a green party

I'm due 2 days before my twins birthday so I think we're skipping a party. I would love to get them birthday gifts though from Green Party Goods. My son would love the eco bamboo airplane or hotrod and the recycled plastic tea set for my daughter. They would also be thrilled with the felt king and queen crowns (I like that they can be used year after year and for dress up after a party) and I can't forget about my 6 year old- he would love the retro wooden theatre.
