BARBAR Eco 8000 Giveaway

This giveaway has ended. Thanks to all that entered!
Some of you might remember my post a couple of weeks ago asking you to contact Dr. OZ about the BARBAR Eco 8000 hair dryer. If BARBAR gets on the Dr. OZ show, everyone who participates will receive a Eco 8000 plus 80% off their site! Last week BARBAR was awesome enough to send me a hair dryer to review and to giveaway and I’m very impressed!!

I have to say I was really shocked when I read about coil heating hair dryers emitting high EMF (electromagnetic fields) radiation. I also learned that when wearing a under wire bra or any metal, you are putting yourself at risk for the EMFs to reenter your body. The metal acts as a antennae, re-radiating the external EMFs into the body. Other products you should beware of are alarm clocks, cell phones, computers, photocopiers, electric kettles, electric razors, plasma tvs, and of course microwaves. Computers emit 20mG, cell phones emit 100mG, and coil heating hair dryers emit 200-400mG!! So if you are having headaches, skin tingling, fatigue, mood swings, lack of concentration… EMFs could be the cause. And it might be from your hair dryer since you typically hold it 6 inches from your head! Note: Studies have shown that EMFs can cause tumors, leukemia and cancer.

This is information that your doctor or pediatrician should be telling you! And why wasn’t this in any of my baby books? In the winter I have always used a hair dryer on Ella. She has pretty long hair, so it usually takes at least 5 minutes to get it somewhat dry. How can a company not post this on their products? 400mG of EMFs 6 inches from a child’s head is insane. Especially when the safe levels of EMFs are .01-2.5!

The Eco 8000 emits 5mG, but compared to 400mG, that is outstanding. The reason why the Eco 8000 has lower EMFs is because they use a ceramic heating element. The ceramic heating element uses 90% electricity turning it into heat. So no energy is wasted. Coil dryers don’t use all of the electricity that they create and that is what turns into radiation.

So after learning all of the scary stuff about dryers, I put the Eco 8000 to the test. I started to dry my hair and was really impressed at how fast the dryer worked. I was able to dry my hair and Ella’s hair in the same amount of time it takes to dry my hair with my old dryer. That was a big plus! I also love the extra long cord which made it so much easier to chase Ella as I tried to dry her hair.

The Eco 8000 has multiple speeds and heating settings. This is great since I have long hair which needs a higher setting and Ella has finer hair that needs a lower setting. When I finished drying my hair I felt like I had just left the salon. No kidding! My hair was salon quality without having to pay someone! It was perfectly straight without the frizzies. I have naturally curly hair and no matter how hard I try to straighten it, it doesn’t work. So I have been truly impressed with every feature of the Eco 8000. You can purchase the Eco 8000 at BARBAR for $150. And it’s totally worth every penny.

Little Twig Giveaway

This giveaway has ended. Thanks to all that entered!
What child doesn’t love a bubble bath? I know I loved them as a child and even now when I want to relax. But the sad thing is that there are very few bubble baths that are safe for you or your child. Majority of bubble baths come back with moderate to high hazards on Skin Deep. Some contain sulfates and artificial fragrance which can be harsh on sensitive skin. Not only that, but some (even popular kid brand) bubble baths contain the preservative quaternium-15 which can release formaldehyde at levels as high as one-tenth of the original ingredient. The sad part is that 84 bubbles baths tested, out of 141, by Skin Deep contain quaternium-15. Luckily for Ella, I found Little Twig and she now is enjoy safe bubble baths!

Little Twig is a terrific Eco-friendly company that sells bubble bath, body wash, body care, shampoo, sun screen and more! All of their products are tested by a pediatric dermatologist for efficacy and mildness. All of the Little Twig products are non-irritating, free of parabens, sulfates and synthetic fragrances. They are also made with botanical and organic ingredients!

Ella was sent the Bath Time Basics gift set and Bumble Bee Bath Mitt, and they are awesome. The Bath Time Basics gift set comes with unscented, tangerine, and lavender 17 oz. bubble baths along with a Bumble Bee wash cloth. The scented bubble baths are from natural and organic herbs and fruits. All of Little Twig’s bubble baths are created for sensitive skin, but the scented versions are meant for children 1+.

I have loved the variety of smells! Lavender has been great for night time baths, especially since it has soothing and relaxing qualities. We usually do baths during the day, but with working on the townhouse, we’ve been getting home late. The bubble bath has helped calm Ella and helped her get ready for bed. The Tangerine is my favorite. Something about a tangerine scent puts me in a good mood. And we all know a happy momma = a happy baby. The Unscented is great for little ones with extra sensitive skin and can be used on any aged child. Ella hasn’t had a reaction to any of the bubble baths and has been having a blast making bubble beards for the first time. 🙂 You can get the Bath Time Basics from Little Twig for $39.99.

The Bumble Bee Bath Mitt has been a big hit. I usually take a bath with Ella to save time and water. We have had fun singing songs with the mitt and doing puppet shows. The mitt is soft and gentle on your child’s skin. We were given a similar mitt last year that was too rough to use. You can get the Bumble Bee Bath Mitt for only $4.49! They also carry a Lady Bug Mitt.

The Giveaway: Little Twig would like to give 1 lucky winner a Mini Gift Set that includes Body Wash, Travel Sized Bodymilk, and a super soft washcloth.Rules: You have until 11:59 p.m. EST December 30, 2009 to enter. The winner will be chosen by random.org and announced after they respond to the winning email. The winner has 48 hours to respond to the winning email, or a new winner will be chosen. GetN’Green Giveaway

This giveaway has ended. Thanks to all that entered!
GetN’Green is a family owned and operated Eco-friendly web store that has it all. They carry reusable bags, water bottles, bamboo towels and linens, bath products, stationary, Eco art, pet items, kid toys and games, kitchen and lunch supplies, recycled gifts, reusable bags, tree growing kits, and more!

GetN’Green
sent us some awesome products to test out! My favorite is SKOY Reusable Cloths.
They came at the perfect time since we are still working on the townhouse. Plus they come in a 4 pack, so we’ve enjoyed keeping them in our kitchen as well. These cloths are amazing. They feel like paper at first but once you wet them they turn into rags. They are reusable and are dishwasher safe. SKOY Cloths also dry very fast, so you don’t have to worry about bacteria growing like you do with sponges. The cloths clean everything from wiping down the counter, cleaning up a spill, or even cleaning windows. They also can absorb up to 15x its own weight! That’s like using 15 paper towels at once.

I was shocked this week when I learned that paper towels and toilet paper can contain dioxins and formaldehyde! High traces can be found in thick, bleached, and chlorinated papers. But the SKOY Cloth is made with 100% biodegradable materials including natural cotton and wood-based cellulose pulp. They also use water based dyes and inks with no chlorine. You can get a set of SKOY Cloths at GetN’Green for only $6.99!!

GetN’Green also sent us a Wrap-N-Mat Snack Pack and and Mat. They are made with PEVA, which is a safe plastic free of BPA, phthalates, and lead. You wrap your snacks or sandwiches in the Wrap-N-Mat and then fold them out to eat. These are great for taking your lunches to work or children taking their lunch to school. They are reusable and washable. I’ve been using them for Ella when we are working on the townhouse. I love how the mat makes a plate. You can get the Wrap-N-Mat Snack Pack for $8.49 and the Wrap-N-Mat for $6.99. They also come in a variety of colors and patterns.

GetN’Green ships for a flat rate of $5.95 in the USA within 24 hours of placing your order. They do ship to Canada at rates starting at $19.99.

The Giveaway: GetN’Green would like to give 1 lucky winner a $20 Gift Card to their site!

Eden Fantasys Giveaway

This giveaway has ended. Thanks to all that entered!
Disclaimer: If you are under 18, please view another page. If you have children at home, do not click on any links on this page with them in the room. Eden Fantasys is meant to be viewed by adults only.
I’m going to keep this post as PG as possible. When Eden Fantasys contacted me, I was a bit hesitant about writing a review. I mean I am a single mom who isn’t seeing any action. But, after viewing their Eco-friendly line of products I decided this was something worth sharing.

Statistically, December is the month of love, well uh- love making. There are more August and September babies than any other months of the year. Some say it’s cabin fever due to winter weather. But whatever the case, for the past 14 years these 2 months have seen the highest birth rates.

If you are experiencing “cabin fever” this month, Eden Fantasys is the place to go for all of your “play time” needs. If you think about it, you are putting these products on the most sensitive parts of your body. Most lubricant products contain preservatives and additives, which can cause reproductive issues, especially since they can be absorbed at a faster rate. Eden Fantasys carries organic and natural massage oils, lubricants, sprays and spritzes, bubble baths, lotions, and candles at affordable prices.

Eden Fantasys also carries quite a few Eco-friendly adult “toys.” I know for my bachelorette party, I received lots of “toys” as gag gifts. I’ve even given a few as gifts. But after learning about all of the harmful plastics and how they can harm the reproductive system, this is something you need to consider when purchasing. Eden Fantasys has a guide which rates all “toys” on a safety scale or you can use their “Green Toy Guide.”

If you are looking for a fun present for a friend or something to spice up the romance department at home, Eden Fantasys is the place to go. They have a flat shipping rate of $5.95 and all of your packages ship discreetly. They also have free returns and exchanges!

The Giveaway: Eden Fantasys would like to give 1 lucky winner a $25 Gift Card to their site

Sounds pretty awesome huh?? If I win and you made a comment on this post, you could randomly win a $100 Target Gift Card!!! But, to enter you are supposed to blog and answer, “If you could take your family on a road trip anywhere, where would you go and why?

This seems like an easy question… but when you have a toddler who hates to travel, it makes it a lot more difficult. I would love to drive cross country and make it to LA. I made it to Vegas from NC, but that might be difficult with a 3 year old. So my next road trip venture would be to NY. I LOVE NY and have been dying to get there for the past 5 years. I think Ella could make the 13 hour drive with the awesome Sony DVD player and I could make it there with $100 worth of Starbucks. I would love to drive through the mountains and stop in Washington to see the White House. Which is something I’ve never done. But the destination is worth the 13 hour drive and I’d do just about anything to see a Broadway play, shop at FAO, see the Rockefeller Tree lit up and play in Central park right now!! And snow… I need to see snow… 🙂

Go to Momlogic and enter for your chance to win this awesome prize pack! But if you win, you must stop by and pick us up. 😉 And don’t forget to leave a comment below. If I win, a random comment will be chosen to win a $100 Target Gift Card!!
