Sleepy Bear Giveaway

This giveaway has ended. Thanks to all that entered!
I am a big advocate of babywearing. I started taking Ella out of the house when she was a week old because I felt comfortable knowing she was protected in her wrap. No one could cough or sneeze on her and she was held warmly against my body. I was also able to breast feed in public more discreetly. I carried her in a wrap until she hit the weight limit at 35 pounds, which was great for my back! The benefits of baby wearing are endless. From the bond that it creates, to the simplicity of moving around while being able to hold your child.

I wish the Sleepy Wrap had been around when Ella was born. The wrap looks so comfy and different than the other wraps I’ve seen. There are 3 different ways you can wrap your infant and it holds babies up to a year old. The owners, Robert and Elizabeth, were busy traveling the world when Ella was an infant and were just starting Sleepy Wrap. Elizabeth created her first wrap when she got aggravated at the wraps that were available for her son. After Elizabeth’s neighbor asked her to make her a wrap, she knew she had a great product to sell. In April of 2007, Elizabeth and Robert sold everything they owned, left Boulder, CO and decided to travel overseas with their 2 children while beginning their Sleepy Wrap business. They got their first internet order while they were in wine country in rural Slovenia and once their business started to roll, they headed back to America.

Well, of course Ella is too old to be carried in a wrap, though I at times wish there was one for her size! There are times she still wants to be carried and I gave up the stroller (in most cases) when she turned 2. But what drew me to Sleepy Wrap was their organic Sleepy Bear. Aren’t they adorable? I love the idea of promoting babywearing through children’s toys! When Ella saw the bears she fell in love with the baby bear. She loves to carry the baby around and then put her back in the wrap with the mommy bear when she needs to go “night night.” The bears are made with 100% organic cotton. They are both extra plush and snugly. There are no snaps, buttons or other removable parts- well, other than the baby bear. The baby bear can lay in the wrap in different positions, just like a real life baby. This would be a great eco-friendly toy for children who are about to get a new sibling to explain babywearing. But I think this makes a great gift for any child!

  1. The first thing I am loving is that those wraps look so comfortable and soft. I've got a ring sling and a moby and neither of them are as soft as those look. Do I need 3 slings? I'm starting to think I do. Gorgeous! And that bear is so cute!

I love the whole story behind the company and how the Sleepy Wrap started as a product that her neighbors asked her to make!

  3. Convenient- there is no awkwardness like when carrying a heavy plastic car seat with one arm!

Oh how I wish these had been around when my daughter was little! All we had was the bulky back or front carriers – nothing like wraps!

  4. I have a Sleepy Wrap and LOVE it. I've used it almost daily since my younger daughter was born two months ago. Not only is she comfy and close, but it also keeps people from touching her (flu season!). I only wish mine were a different color (like the green on the website). It was a gift and not the color I would have picked.

  5. I love that the bear is organic. I love knowing that what I'm giving my children isn't harming them.

As for the wraps. I am a BIG believer in the power of wearing your baby. My daughter was born premature and I don't think I could have given her a better gift.
