ecopiggy Gift Certificate Giveaway

A while back I had someone ask me about reusable diapers. I didn’t know much about them, so I did some research. I had debated using them before Ella was born and if I had read all of the facts back then, I would have chosen differently. First of all you will spend $1,000-$2,000 less on reusable diapers compared to disposable. That fact alone would have changed my mind! Then there are quite a few toxic chemicals found in most disposable diapers like dioxin- a carcinogen by-product made from the bleaching process, TBT- a toxic pollutant, and sodium polyacrylate- the gel stuff that was taken out of tampons because of causing TSS. Another fact is that 92% of disposable diapers end up in landfills. That means over 20 billion diapers are tossed in landfills every year!! And disposable diapers aren’t so decomposable! It is not known how long it will take for them to decompose, but it is estimated that it will take over 200 years.

So I did some looking around at reusable diapers and found some that I would have chosen if Ella were still in diapers. They are called Gro Baby and can be found at ecopiggy.   46. I found that the Neutrogena sunblock stick I use on my daughters is only rated a 2… however, ingredients in it are linked to developmental/reproductive toxicity? What?
