Piggy Paint Stocking Stuffer Giveaway

This giveaway has ended. Thanks to all that entered!
I’m sure everyone knows about Piggy Paint by now. They are an incredible non-toxic fingernail polish company who sells “Safe as Mud” products. This is the absolute perfect stocking stuffer for any aged girl. Even boys, who like to dress up like pirates, might enjoy the Sleepover Black polish! Piggy Paint has just been awarded with the Safe Alternative Excellence Award from safbaby.com and I personally can see why! Read more about it here.

If you are a new reader, I did a post 3 months ago about this wonderful fingernail polish. I did a test with all of my daughter’s fingernail polish, as well as mine and this is a picture of the results:Do you see how the fingernail polish ate through the Styrofoam plate? This is because majority of fingernail polishes contain formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalates, toluene, and other toxic chemicals that are strong enough to eat through a sturdy (yet totally un-Eco-friendly) plate. Piggy Paint, the blue polish in the middle, did not eat through the plate because it is non-toxic made with a water based formula.

Piggy Paint sent us the Ice Dream (green) polish and remover for the holidays. Little Miss has the crud again on top of being out of sorts all week, so I forgot to take the picture after I put the polish on her last week. So, here is what it looks on my poorly manicured finger… 🙂 Piggy Paint has 3 variety holiday gift packs that would make great stocking stuffers or to order before the holidays so your little ones piggies are festive. They have over 20 gift sets to choose from or you can order the polishes separately. The Jingle Rock Gift Set (the one in the middle) is on sale this month for only $23.50. You get the Ice Dream green and Sometimes Sweet red plus 1 nail polish remover. Also, if you order the Fight Breast Cancer Pack, for only $19.99, portions of the sale will go towards the Susan G. Komen For the Cure.
Piggy Paints would like to offer ALL of my readers 15% off their purchase until December 15 by entering

Formulations for the kitties Giveaway

This giveaway has ended. Thanks to all that entered!
It’s Gift Guide Pet Sunday! I’m sure all of our kitties have tons of toys lying around the house, not to mention the wrapping paper balls and bows they will enjoy batting around the house after presents have been opened. So why not go for something practical this year- like a handmade Eco-friendly Hemp Collar. I found an amazing Etsy store called Formulations that makes different macrame style hemp collars with a safety break away feature.

I love the intricate macrame design. The collar is adjustable and is very light weight. I hate bulky collars for kitties. The collar comes with a bell which is a huge plus in my book right now. One of my kitties has been acting out and has been marking his territory in Ella’s room. I haven’t been a happy mommy especially since I can’t tell which one out of the two is doing it. Well, now with this adorable Hemp Collar I’m going to be able to find out the culprit! I haven’t heard any ringing yet, but I’m on the lookout!

Whitney, the owner of Formulations, has an interesting story. Since May of 2009 she has been traveling all over looking for a like minded community to live in a balanced relationship with all living things. I so wish I could travel for 6 months!! Whitney’s specialty is knotting- complicated to simple- and she loves to create jewelry, glass bottle holders, wall hanging and mobiles. Because of her travels, she currently only has collars and jewelry on her site, but be on the lookout for more! The Giveaway: Formulations would like to create a custom made collar (color choice and even the option to add beads) to 1 lucky winner. Check out your choices by clicking hereRules: You have until 11:59 p.m. EST November 22, 2009 to enter. The winner will be chosen by random.org and announced after they respond to the winning email. Sweet Organics and Naturals Gift Code Giveaway

This giveaway has ended. Thanks to all that entered!
Sorry about not posting yesterday.. will be back with that on Monday. Anyways, Gift Guide Saturdays are about holiday gear that can be gifts or used for the holidays. I am the world’s worst present wrapper. I think a child can wrap better than me, but I still do it just because it’s fun. There’s nothing better than wrapping presents underneath a tree with a fire going listening to holiday music. Ah… I could use that moment right now.

This year, I was thinking about ways to be more “green” when it comes to all of the holiday gear. I came across Sweet Organics and Naturals and fell in love with their products. They carry stylish Eco-friendly purses, jewelry, body care, tree free greeting cards, sustainable wrapping paper, handmade eco journals, and much more!

Sweet Organics and Naturals sent me quite a few products to review for the holidays. I have to say my favorites are the Plantable Greeting Cards! This is the Grow-A-Note Joy card. This recycled paper is embedded with a colorful variety of wildflowers seeds that will grow just about anywhere. You plant the card in an area that receives partial to full sunlight, thoroughly moisten in fine soil 1/4 deep and keep moist until seeds germinate. The paper will recycle into the earth naturally. So not only are you sending your friends and family a recycled card, but you are giving them flowers! They have 8 holiday cards to choose from. This is my favorite card- Eco Friendly Peace is the Season! It is 100% recycled paper, printed with soy based inks. The large ornament the bird is holding is seeded paper with colorful wildflowers! So your friends and family can keep the card as well as plant the seeds. You can get a box of 8 5×7 cards for $12.

Sweet Organics and Naturals also carries Tree Free Cards that are made with sugar cane and printed with soy ink. We were sent the Eco Friendly Starlight card and you can’t even tell it’s not tree paper! You can get a box set of 10 5×7 cards for only $11!

Not only does Sweet Organics and Naturals sell amazing Eco friendly cards, they have 100% post-consumer fiber/ no new trees wrapping paper! They sent us the Eco Friendly Christmas Reindeer Wrapping paper and it is too cute. All of the paper is printed with vegetable based inks on quality paper. It’s pretty durable and passed the non-tearing test when I tried wrapping something I’ve had saved for a while. You get 2 sheets of 24″x36″ papers in each package for $5

Sweet Organics and Naturals carries a variety of wrapping paper, gift bags, tissue paper and more for every occasion. And of course you can’t finish wrapping a present without a curling ribbon bow! I was sent the Deck the Halls ribbon and it curls perfectly. I wish I had pics… but you know how my week has been. The ribbon is biodegradable, made with soy based inks, and is acid free. You get 10 yards of 5/8″ wide ribbon for $6.

The Giveaway: Sweet Organics and Naturals would like to give 1 lucky winner a $20 gift code to be used at their store!

Rules: You have until 11:59 p.m. EST November 21, 2009 to enter. The winner will be chosen by random.org and announced after they respond to the winning email. Paloma Pottery Giveaway

This giveaway has ended. Thanks to all that entered!
This next gift can be given to teenage girls, friends, moms, aunts and even grandmothers. It’s hard to find great gifts for everyone, so I thought I’d make it as easy as possible! You know my pottery obsession, so I looked around for some more Eco-friendly pottery and loved what I found! I was drawn to Paloma Pottery when I saw this candle holder:The cracked recycled glass blew my mind and I had to contact them to share this amazing company with you. Paloma Pottery is recycled glass infused pottery which is handmade by the very talented Nicole Whitney. Nicole creates the pottery herself, then allows the clay to air dry before going into the kiln for bisque firing. Once fired, the pottery is then ready to be glazed and the broken recycled glass particles are added. The kiln melts the glass and fuses it to the clay and glaze to make the astounding finished product. The recycled glass is collected from glass jars, wine bottles, beer bottles, and other glass found on the side of the road, trails, or any other place people leave trash. The glass is then busted into small particles to be infused to these works of art. You can see how it is done by clicking here.

You can find bookmarks, bottle stoppers, candle holders, clocks, dinnerware, door knobs, jewelry, key chains, magnets, mirrors, ornaments, soap dishes, tiles, tables and so much more at Paloma Pottery!

Paloma Pottery sent me a Tea Light Candleholder, which I’ve been using as a spoon rest. The coaster is only 2.5″, but it can also be used for a tea bag holder, child’s cup coaster, or just a decorative piece to go on a small table. It matched my kitchen, so that’s why I choose to use it as a spoon rest. It’s easy to wipe off and I love looking at it while I cook. 🙂

I was also sent an Adjustable Recycled Fused Round Tropical Water Necklace that is gorgeous!I love the size of the circle, which really stands out. It is 1.5 in in diameter and can be worn with any type of outfit. The adjustable waxed cotton cord allows the necklace to hang up to 32″ or be worn as a choker. I love jewelry that can go with your mood and outfit! The necklace comes in 7 different colors and a variety of shaped pendants. The cracked glass makes this so unique and sparkly. It is very light weight. This is truly a gift for all ages.

Right now you can get the Recycled Glass Necklace for 50% off! It is originally $32.50 but is on sale for only $16.25. Paloma Pottery also has quite a few amazing sales going on, so start shopping early to catch the deals!

A Million Thanks!

You guys are AWESOME! I never expected all of the positive responses, shared stories, prayers and wisdom you left on my previous post from last night. I have learned in the past it helps to write what is bothering you and then you’ll be able to find the answers. All of your support put me in a new mind set today and I am beyond grateful. I was looking for answers in myself by putting my personal life out there in writing, but you gave me more than I ever could have expected.

Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!

PlanToys Giveaway

This giveaway has ended. Thanks to all that entered!!
So I told you about one of my favorite toy manufactures last month and now I’m back with an amazing giveaway from PlanToys!! If you don’t know about PlanToys, they create amazing educational, developmental and safe wooden toys for all ages! PlanToys only uses replenishable rubberwood, which is preservative free and naturally processed. The wood is not chemically treated in any way. PlanToys only uses water-based colors and non-toxic glues. So their toys are completely safe and non-toxic.

PlanToys sent us the PlanCity Airport to review and it is not like another other activity set I’ve ever seen. It is sturdy, wooden and has no plastic toxic parts! This great gift is for ages 3+ since there are small parts, but both girls and boys can enjoy. My friend’s 8 year old son had a blast playing with it.
First I have to compliment PlanToys for making this an easy to assemble toy. I was able to do it in 20 minutes. As a single mom and having to build everything myself, I curse 99% of the toy makers with their complex packaging, lack of product organization and poor instructions. I was a bit nervous when I saw the size of the Airport, but once I opened the box and saw that everything was packaged separately with easy to use instructions, I was a very happy mommy! Another thing that I loved is that the packaging is paper bags which can be reused for snacks, hand puppets or other crafts, mini goody bags, or even small gift bags! I know.. I’m crafty…

The Airport is a 2 story play area complete with a flight control tower, sky path, movable elevator that connects the two levels, a car park, check in counter, conveyor belt, a airplane, cargo trailer, and a pilot and captain. How cool is that!! The airplane moves easily up and down the ramps and have been a huge hit in my house. I love all of the movable elements that can keep Ella occupied for hours. She loves planes and this has helped her learn the layout of an airport since she hasn’t been since she was a baby. This might just seem like a fun toy, but it is definitely an educational and developmental toy by working on your child’s fine motor skills with the conveyor belt and elevator. Plus, watching your child use their imagination is priceless!

Here are a few items from PlanCity I want to purchase to make the set complete so Ella can have more fun being creative: You can even add to the Airport by purchasing the Road and Rail Deluxe, Standard Road System, and Set of Trees and Lights.

I also wanted to share some other PlanToys items that are on my wish list that might spark your interest! Since some major life changes have happened this week, my wish list will probably have to stay just a wish list. (I’m going to post about that in a sec) But on a very happy note….

Name Your Tune Giveaway

This contest has ended. Thanks to all that entered!!
I love stocking stuffers! Since we don’t do candy in ours, I like to get creative with small little presents. Last year for Ella I did small musical instruments, a mini doll, socks, a book and a dvd. This year I was introduced to a cool company called Name Your Tune, that makes a personalized Name Your Tune CD with your child’s name in every song that would make a terrific stocking stuffer!
Here is the playlist:

    Click to Listen!

  1. Hello, How Are You?
  2. If You’re Happy And You Know It
  3. Old MacDonald
  4. Oh How I Want to Go
  5. Wheels on the Bus
  6. Boom Boom, Ain’t It Great To Be YOU!
  7. Down By The Park
  8. The More We Get Together
  9. Head and Shoulders
  10. There are Seven Days
  11. Rainbow Song
  12. ABC Medley
  13. I Don’t Want To Live On The Moon
  14. Instrumental Lullaby

I have to admit we only own 2 children’s CD’s. Well, this is our 3rd. I’m not the kid music type of mom. Though, after seeing Ella smile and sing along to most of the songs, it was worth enduring the CD over and over again. She was so excited every time she heard her name! And once Santa brings her a radio for her room in 2 months, I know she will enjoy hearing this even more! Mommy can only take hearing it on repeat 3 times before losing it. 🙂 That goes for any kids music…

Ella especially loved the ABC Medley and Head and Shoulders. She was in the backseat doing all of the moves to the song- same with If You’re Happy And You Know It. This would be a great CD for newborns all the way up to elementary school kids. There are some new songs I hadn’t heard before which were pretty cute and the Lullaby about put Ella to sleep on a long car ride home. So this would be great to play in their room before bed time.

If you have more than 1 child, you can add 2 names to the CD. So this could be a dual gift- especially if you have twins. You can add a personalized message to the CD label and it will have your child’s name on it. Your child’s name will be on the CD over 80 times! There are over 4200 names that you can choose from including different pronunciations. And if you are looking to find a name for your new baby- this is a great list to check out!

Name Your Tune would like to offer all of my readers $5 off their Name Your Tune CD order by entering Mkokopelli at the checkout. The CD is only $20!

The Giveaway: Name Your Tune would like to offer 1 lucky reader a Name Your Tune CDRules: You have until 11:59 p.m. EST November 16, 2009 to enter.
