Play and Learn Toys Giveaway

This giveaway has ended. Thanks to all that entered!

Ella got a mini kitchen for her birthday and has been loving every minute of “cooking” us some good meals. She has a bit of a sweet tooth and loves cookies, cakes, and ice cream- real or fake. Every time we are at the local toy store, she plays with the fake deserts. They are all number 7 plastic, so we usually end up leaving with her in tears over not getting to bring them home. Luckily, Play and Learn Toys sent her a Yellow Label Kids cookie set which has had her overjoyed!

Play and Learn Toys
is run by Narissa Singh who is a stay at home mom to 2 small children. They live in a Northern Alberta town called Rainbow Lake which has very limited shopping choices. As Narissa shopped online for various occasions, she decided she wanted to create her own business that sold special, safe, and eco-friendly children products for Canadians like herself. Now Play and Learn Toys ships to the US! Play and Learn Toys carries tons of toys for ages 0-6+. They have known brands like PlanToys, Haba, Yellow Label Kids and more.

Yellow Label Kids is a Fair Trade company that sells artisan handcrafted toys, clothing and blankets from all around the world. They have amazing hand knit desert items that are of very high quality. When Ella received her cookies she was more than thrilled! She took them out of the fabric box and put them straight into the oven. The cookies come in 6 different assortments: Strawberry cream, Chocolate cream sandwich, Double chocolate chip, Chocolate chip, Chocolate candy, and Black and white. The cookies are great for all ages and genders. You can get the set at Play and Learn Toys for $31.99!

Livie & Luca Review

Can you believe Spring will be here in 6 weeks? It seems like Winter just began! Ella is growing out of everything, so I guess it is a welcomed change so I don’t have to buy 2 whole new wardrobes. Luckily clothing and shoe companies have their Spring lines already online and from what I’ve seen, 2010 has some awesome new products.

Ella was sent a pair of new Eco-friendly Magenta Petal Livie & Luca shoes that are adorable! They are soft and flexible yet still give the perfect amount of support. I love that the Petal shoes are versatile and can be worn as dress or play time shoes. I can’t wait for warmer weather so Ella can run around in them. They have a Velcro strap that is easy for preschoolers to learn how to use. Ella has mastered putting them on. The best part is that they are Eco-friendly and beyond adorable!

Livie & Luca began when 3 mothers discovered a need for funky modern shoes. Their shoes are handmade with high quality recycled leather and non-toxic glue. Each collection is limited edition and sell out quickly, so be sure to check them out now if your kiddo is in need of Spring shoes. They come in American sizes 4-13 and have a print out so you can make sure you choose the correct size.

Another amazing thing about Livie & Luca is that they participate in Shoe-Reuse program that donates your used shoes to children living in poverty. Livie & Luca will send you a free shipping coupon for every pair of shoes that you donate. Livie & Luca also donates 10% of their online sales to charity through their Sharing is Caring program.

Discount: Livie & Luca would like to offer you free shipping by entering freeshipping in the coupon section.

Planet One Gifts Giveaway

This giveaway has ended. Thanks to all that entered!!

As I was looking for traditional Valentines Day gifts, I came across Planet One Gifts and was really taken back by their unique items. They sell fair trade, organic, and Eco-friendly products. I love that most fair trade items are handcrafted by artisans and the money usually goes toward a great cause. But what really stood out for me about Planet One Gifts is that at the end of the year they donate 10% of their profits to local charities! So not only do they support great causes by carrying fair trade items, they also give back to their own community.

Planet One Gifts carries bath and body items, products for the home, desk items, children toys, baby items, pet accessories, fair trade chocolate, coffee, and other specialty food items. Their site is easy to navigate and you can even narrow down your search by shopping by recipient.

Planet One Gifts sent me Lulu Life Nilotica Body Butter and Lulu Life Nilotica Lip Balm to review. Lulu, the nilotica variety of the shea nut tree, is indigenous to Africa. In response to the hunger in Sudan, a Lulu Livelihood program was founded by MEDIC to help bring profit to the area. The Lulu tree fruits around the same time that seasonal hunger begins in Sudan. The women of Sudan are now considered the Guardians of Life since they unearth and pass down the Lulu nuts. Over the past decade the Lulu Livelihoods have created a infrastructure for a sustainable Shea oil industry for the women of Sudan that provide for their families.

I thought this was an amazing story and the purity of the program to the purity of the nut makes it even more inspiring. I was sent the Lulu Love Body Butter and it’s like no other shea butter that I’ve used before. It’s slightly greasy, but smooths out rough, dry and cracked skin. It is helping to heal my cracked heels from this dry weather! The greasy feeling goes away after 5 minutes and it’s absorbed into the skin. The Lulu Love Body Butter is made with Virgin Shea Butter and Lulu Love fragrance. I can’t describe what the Love fragrance is because all I smell is the shea butter, which is very pleasant. You can get the Lulu Life Shea Butter in lavender, mystic mint, Lulu delight, Lulu love, sandalwood, and jasmine. Planet One Gifts sells the Lulu Life Shea Butter for $25 in a 3.4 oz container.

I also got to try the Lulu Life Nilotica Lip Balm which is outstanding! I love lip balms and am always in the search for the perfect balm that doesn’t leave your lips dry after 10 minutes. The Lulu keeps your lips moist without leaving them cracked later. The lip balm is made with virgin shea butter, beeswax, and the essential oil you choose. I received the Citrus Blast and I can slightly taste or smell the citrus. It’s not overpowering and I like the subtle scent. Vanilla, Spearmint, Pina Colada, and Strawberry are also available. You can purchase the Lulu Life Lip Balm for $9 at Planet One Gifts.

Cloud b Review

I think any parent who has a child suffering from sleep issues would love to have their Valentine’s Night uninterrupted and I have found the answer… well other than leaving them with the grandparents. 😉 Cloud b carries amazing products to help soothe your child to sleep. They also carry some great bamboo, organic cotton, and soy fiber products!

Ella received the Twilight Turtle when she was born. She loves looking up at the stars and I so wish the Twilight Ladybug had been around then to match her room! The Twilight animals are perfect for children who are scared of the dark. You just sit them on a table near their bed and the star gazing begins. After 45 minutes, the Twilight animal will shut off. We’ve had the same batteries in ours for 3 years. 🙂 You can also change the shell’s color to green, blue, or amber. Both Twilight animals are $34 each.

Cloud b sent Ella their new Polar Cuddle Cub made with Eco-friendly Soy Fibers. The Polar Cub is extremely soft, just like her favorite soy blanket. The Polar Cub has a heart insert and when your child cuddles with the cub they will feel its heart beat. You have the option to have a timer for the heart beat or when your child holds the bear tight they can feel and hear the beating. You also have the choice to make the heart vibrate. I’ve been having anxiety attacks, almost every day, and I held the Polar Cub close to my heart and it was extremely soothing. So I can definitely see how this will calm an anxious child who doesn’t want to fall asleep.

The Polar Cub also comes with a mini story book to help raise awareness about Polar bears. It also has a certificate of adoption. You can purchase the Polar Cub from Cloud b for only $29.00! Plus a portion of your purchase will go to Conservation International.

Cloud b also carries other amazing sleep products including sleep systems, aroma pillows, sound machine dolls, blankets, and fabulous gift sets. Be sure to check out the Eco-friendly gift sets!

The Discount: Enter

Free shipping on order over $39

If you tell me one item you love from Cloud b and join their Facebook page you can get 4 extra entries to ANY current giveaway going on! Just comment here the item and that you became a fan and then comment “CB#” in the giveaway that you enter.

Trillium Organics Giveaway

This giveaway has ended. Thanks to all that entered!
I know that perfume is a cliche Valentines Day gift, but since these are botanical instead of toxic junk I had to share. 🙂 I say toxic junk because 95% of perfumes are made with synthetic petroleum based compounds that cause numerous problems for many people. The Environmental Working Group found that 16% of perfumes contained chemicals that can cause cancer. 98% of perfumes contained ingredients that haven’t been tested or had insufficient data. 76% contained ingredients that are allergens and 13% had potential health concerns. Perfumes don’t list their ingredients, so you have no clue what you are getting.

I found an amazing company called Trillium Organics that carries botanical perfumes with mainly organic ingredients. Trillium Organics has 3 perfume lines, Amorous Agenda, Aromatic Attitude Adjustment, and Aromarolla. They all come in multiple scents and are pocket size rollers. You can purchase 1/5 drams or 1/3 oz. rollers of the Aromarolla. I was sent the Amorous Agenda line that includes Love, Romance, and Passion. Of course Passion would be my favorite. 🙂 I’m a very passionate person. Passion includes organic jojoba oil, organic vanilla, ylang ylang, ginger, clove, and cinnamon. It is a spicy scent, yet not too pungent. The clove and ginger are mild.

My next favorite is the Romance. It is a mild scent that’s very laid back. It includes organic jojoba oil, organic vanilla, clary sage, and ylang ylang. I love the gentle scent of vanilla mixed with sage.

I’m not too fond of the Love scent, but floral scents just aren’t me. Granted, it does smell exactly like roses and roses do smell wonderful. But, my perfume personality just isn’t roses. Love includes organic jojoba oil, organic vanilla, rose, and sandalwood. If you do like floral scents, this would be perfect for you!

Trillium Organics
carries organic and non-toxic skin care ranging from oils, lotions and soaps. They also have a OG Baby line that includes a respiratory congestion clearing set. I have that to review and I’m pretty sure it’s coming in the next week since Miss E has a 102 fever tonight. No symptoms yet, but I’m sure those will follow tomorrow.

Be sure to check out the Trillium Organics Valentines Specials!! They have some amazing products on sale as well as some retired scents.

The Giveaway: Trillium Organics would like to offer 1 lucky winner their choice of 1 Amorous Agenda Perfume rollers!!

Rules: You have until 11:59 p.m. EST February 16, 2010 to enter. The winner will be chosen by random.org and announced after they respond to the winning email. RCTEES Giveaway

This giveaway has ended. Thanks to all that entered!

So I’m a little late in running my Eco-friendly Valentines event. But honestly, I couldn’t stand the thought of thinking about the day for over a month. Being a single mom makes the holiday hard, not to mention all of my previous V-days have been horrible. But, I know most of you participate in the holiday so I thought I’d share with you some fun things you can hint to the man in your life or give to your children.

You know my Etsy obsession and I just found an amazing tee shirt company called RCTEES. They carry Earthy and unique Tshirts, tunics, and bags. All of their designs are awesome!! They carry mostly adult tees but I’d love to see some of their designs on kid tees! (If you agree, send them a message!!) They totally fit our family’s personality. RCTEES is run by a husband and wife team and all of the original designs are hand printed. Majority of the tees are 100% organic cotton and are sold at affordable prices.

I seriously love their canvas bags! This is the picture that inspired my favorite bag:
Isn’t that awesome?? RCTEES also carries a Kokopelli shirt, so it was really hard to decide what to review!

RCTEES sent me a Valentine Love to Recycle tee to review and I love it! It’s not a cheesy Valentines Day shirt, plus it can be worn any other day of the year. It is a thin organic cotton slim fit alternative apparel scoop neck tee with the recycle symbol in the shape of a heart. Here is a better image:This is a great tee for cool or slightly warm weather. I wore an undershirt with mine and was good in 55 degree weather. It’s not a scratchy thick tee like I’m used to wearing, so I was really happy when I felt it. 🙂 The tee is form fitting and you should go up a size if you don’t want it to be tight.

You can get the Valentine Love to Recycle Tee for only $25. And if you like things to match, you can get the Valentine Love to Recycle Tote for only $12!
The Giveaway: RCTEES would like to give 1 lucky winner any 1 item from their shop!!! So it can be a Tshirt, tunic, or bag!!

Rules: You have until 11:59 p.m. EST February 14, 2010 to enter. The winner will be chosen by random.org and announced after they respond to the winning email. The winner has 48 hours to respond to the winning email, or a new winner will be chosen. You must leave your email address! This contest is open to EVERYONE!

Franklin Goose Review

You might remember my review of Franklin Goose from last month. They are a new 1 stop Eco-shop with over 1,300 products. And they are still growing! Franklin Goose carries organic and natural: clothing from infant-6T, shoes, diapers and accessories, feeding gear, furniture, toys, books and DVDs, baby gear, strollers, health and safety, nursery items, mattresses, gifts, storage, bath and potty, and things for the family. They have thought of it all!

I have really enjoyed watching Franklin Goose grow over the past month. They’ve gotten in a bunch of fun stuff and I love to fake shop. I used to have a huge shopping addiction and now with not working, I had to get it under control. So I browse and find things I’d like to buy. Ella’s feet have grown since our Soft Star Shoe review in the Fall and her grandparents just ordered the same pair from Franklin Goose. They were too cute to only get to be worn just a season!

Franklin Goose
just started carrying toddler Baby Star clothing and sent Ella a Organic Lucy Skirt to review. I love that there is organic cotton jean material. Everything about this skirt is adorable. I love the stars on the butt and the ruffled pleat in the front. The Lucy Skirt has green stitching, which is the Baby Star jean trademark.

The Lucy Skirt comes in sizes 6-12, 12-18, 18-24, 2T and 4T. Ella got the 4T and it’s the perfect size. It comes with the elastic waist band with buttons on the inside in case you need to make the skirt tighter. I don’t like short skirts on kids, but I can see Ella being able to wear this for at least a year. In the Winter, tights or leggings are great and of course in the Spring and Summer you can’t go wrong with a jean skirt! The fabric is super soft and pre-washed, so you don’t have to worry about bleeding or shrinking.

You can get the Lucy Skirt for only $40! Franklin Goose also carries Baby Star jeans, bodysuits, pants, onesies, tanks and more! Plus Franklin Goose has a flat shipping rate of $5.

If you’d like 4 extra entries to any giveaways going on, join the Franklin Goose Community in any way that you’d like. Just comment back here on which community you joined and then write “FG” in the giveaway you enter.
