As I was looking for traditional Valentines Day gifts, I came across Planet One Gifts and was really taken back by their unique items. They sell fair trade, organic, and Eco-friendly products. I love that most fair trade items are handcrafted by artisans and the money usually goes toward a great cause. But what really stood out for me about Planet One Gifts is that at the end of the year they donate 10% of their profits to local charities! So not only do they support great causes by carrying fair trade items, they also give back to their own community.

In response to the hunger in Sudan, a Lulu Livelihood program was founded by MEDIC to help bring profit to the area. The Lulu tree fruits around the same time that seasonal hunger begins in Sudan. The women of Sudan are now considered the Guardians of Life since they unearth and pass down the Lulu nuts. Over the past decade the Lulu Livelihoods have created a infrastructure for a sustainable Shea oil industry for the women of Sudan that provide for their families.

I thought this was an amazing story and the purity of the program to the purity of the nut makes it even more inspiring. I was sent the Lulu Love Body Butter and it’s like no other shea butter that I’ve used before. It’s slightly greasy, but smooths out rough, dry and cracked skin. It is helping to heal my cracked heels from this dry weather! The greasy feeling goes away after 5 minutes and it’s absorbed into the skin. The Lulu keeps your lips moist without leaving them cracked later. The lip balm is made with virgin shea butter, beeswax, and the essential oil you choose. I received the Citrus Blast and I can slightly taste or smell the citrus. It’s not overpowering and I like the subtle scent. Vanilla, Spearmint, Pina Colada, and Strawberry are also available.
